Quantum intuition from classical physics - TS01

We begin this tutorial series on two state systems by trying to gain some intuition for the dynamics of quantum systems. Solving the Schrödinger equation is one way go and with the help of the wonderful people at QuTiP we do this with a single line of code. We also gain intuition by looking at classical physics.

When two states are coupled together they resemble a pair of pendulums connected together by a spring. Energy transfers between the pendulums in classical physics, whereas for the quantum system it is probability that transfers between the two states - i.e. the most likely state for the system to occupy changes over time. The classical analogies don’t end there - the interchangeability of energy and frequency in quantum mechanics makes acoustic physics useful too.
